2008 Board of Directors
CCA's Board of Directors is comprised of highly capable, dedicated individuals with backgrounds in business, education, non-profit management, health care, cancer research, law and finance. In addition to their professional expertise, each board member has in some way been touched by colorectal cancer. Having a personal understanding of colorectal cancer and its impacts deepens their commitment to helping others affected by the disease — and to one day finding a cure.
Kevin Lewis, Co-Founder and Board Chairperson, is a carrier of an HNPCC (hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer) gene and has many family members who have died or suffered from colon cancer. Thanks to the National Cancer Institute, he follows an extensive prevention regime designed to reduce his probability of developing a malignant tumor. Kevin is a principal at PRTM, a management consulting firm to technology-based clients. He is also a member of the National Dialogue on Cancer, a national group of government, nonprofit and for-profit organizations cooperating to find ways to drastically reduce the incidence of cancer in the United States, and serves on the cancer prevention team. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and an engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania. His extensive corporate experience includes Raytheon, Teradyne, Lockheed-Martin, IBM and Lucent Technologies, as well as Infolibria, an Internet startup company.
Michael Zahaby, Board Treasurer, is the Executive Director of Morgan Stanley's Individual Investor Group and Chief Credit Officer of BusinessScape. Michael was a caregiver to his wife of 27 years in her two-year fight against colon cancer. He received a bachelor's degree in finance from The Ohio State University, and a MBA in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management. He previously served on the board of the Southeast Pennsylvania United Way, and chaired many of the Board's committees and sub-committees on funds allocation and children's issues. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Michael was a senior officer of Merrill Lynch BFS and of CoreStates/First Union Banks. He dedicates his efforts to raising awareness of colon cancer in memory of his wife Sharon.
Sandy White, Board Secretary and Liaison to the Advocacy Committee, is a colon cancer survivor, diagnosed in 1993. She is a product management consultant for Allstate Insurance Company in Pennsylvania. She has lobbied on Capitol Hill for increased funding to assist with eradicating colorectal cancer and developed a workshop on personal advocacy that was offered at the American Cancer Society's Survivors' Conference in November 2000. She also produced Cancer Matters, a cable television series that focused on cancer-related issues for survivors and caregivers. Sandy was featured on the Today Show during CRC Awareness month in March 2000.
