Free Screenings
The DC Cancer Consortium and DC Department of Health have awarded a grant to Howard University Cancer Center and Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University to perform free colon cancer screening tests.
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a resident of Washington, DC (please bring identification)
- Be 50-64 years old
- Have no health insurance OR are under-insured (includes Unison and DC Alliance)
- Have never had a colonoscopy
Those eligible should go to Howard University Hospital’s Gastroenterology Clinic on a Friday between 1 pm and 3 pm.

The tests provided are colonoscopy and fecal immunochemical test (FIT). FITs will be distributed and the samples must be returned to Howard University Hospital for testing. Colonoscopies will be scheduled for another date within two weeks of the initial meeting. Procedure preparation supplies will be provided upon scheduling the appointment.
