Mustache Movember
As a young man, Victor Delgadillo never really appreciated his ability to grow a mustache. This changed, however, when Victor was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in November 2008. After spending a year in treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, he has now been cancer-free for three years!
Although Victor is back to being a young, healthy man, he hasn’t forgotten the effect that cancer had on his life and on the life of so many others. Delgadillo decided to promote awareness by growing a mustache and participating in Movember, a worldwide campaign to raise funds for research and education concerning cancer in men.
Since colon cancer had such a huge impact on his own life, Delgadillo chose to grow his mustache to benefit the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) and raise funds through a CCA Blue Star Tribute. Victor knows that he is still alive today because of a colonoscopy, and he hopes that the CCA will be able to save lives by through screening mindfulness.
Victor’s fundraiser is a creative way to raise awareness about colon cancer and his mustache is sure to be a hit! If you have a fundraising idea like Victor, please contact Alison Ornitz at 202-628-0123 ex. 109.
