Partying with Purpose: Parrot Heads of Puget Sound
At first glance Parrot Heads of Puget Sound may sound like your typical Washington state, Jimmy Buffet enthusiast group. But in actuality, they are a tight-knit group who strive to give back to their community. Throughout the years, they have put their motto – “Party with Purpose” – to good use through their annual pub crawl and poker run. For its third installment, Parrot Heads of Puget Sound decided to honor the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) after one of its longtime members was diagnosed with colon cancer.
On May 25, 2013, participants started a five-stop bar crawl, each stop culminating with the players receiving a playing card. By the last stop, every participant had a five-card hand and, thus, the poker began! Through registration fees and generous donations, Parrot Heads of Puget Sound raised more than $800 to help the CCA knock colon cancer out of the top three cancer killers.
Congratulations and thank you to the Parrot Heads of Puget Sound team and all those who participated in this year’s pub crawl and poker run. You’re all winners in our book!
