Undy 5000 - Not Your Typical 5K
In 2008, The Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) is launching a series of 5000 meter (5K) walk/runs called Undy 5000s. These events are designed to draw media attention, give survivors and caregivers a voice, and get people talking about colorectal cancer, while raising funds for work in this area.
Participants in the Undy 5000 will be drawing attention to their bottoms—and colorectal cancer—by running or walking in their underwear. Yes, underwear. This might mean matching team boxer shorts for some, colorful boxer briefs for others, or even logo-branded shorts for corporate teams. And instead of a boring old race T-shirt, our participants will even get race-branded boxer shorts!
But WHY underwear? Because people don’t like to talk about colorectal cancer. And talking about it will save their lives. We need people to talk about colorectal cancer at their doctor’s office, around the dinner table, at the grocery store, while waiting in line at the local car wash… everywhere. CCA is willing to do anything we can to get people to speak out about colorectal cancer. A parade of people in their underwear … eventually in hundreds of towns in the United States … will help us get there.

Earn A Blue Star Campaign
CCA's Earn A Blue Star Campaign was launched in March 2008 to support the National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign serves to raise awareness, educate the public, and generate much needed support to wipe out this disease. CCA is challenging individuals to do something to change the future of colorectal cancer today. Please do your part to change the hundreds of thousands of lives affected by colorectal cancer.
