March 10, 2010 / Nashville, TN - The Colon Cancer Alliance is gearing up for the 2nd Annual 'The Stars Go Blue' for Colon Cancer benefit to be held on March 23, 2010 at 7:00pm at the Loveless Barn in Nashville, TN. Hosted by Great American Country's Nan Kelley, this concert will feature intimate and rare acoustic performances by some of Country Music's elite songwriters; Rodney Crowell, Gretchen Peters, Mike Reid, Barry Walsh and Peter Cooper, along with special guests Mike Snider, Wade Hayes and Bill Miller.
Sponsored by Salix Pharmaceuticals Inc., The Campaign To Stop Colon Cancer Now Powered By AmSurg, Lightning 100, Liberty Party Rental, MusicStartsHere.org, NashvilleMuse.com and Music Row Magazine, this evening was inspired and created by four time Grammy nominee Charlie Kelley who was diagnosed and treated for colon cancer at the age of 40 in Fall 2008 and only three weeks after his wife Nan Kelley, a host on the Great American Country (GAC) cable network, successfully completed treatment for a different form of cancer. Charlie will also join in the writers' round for a very special appearance.
Event tickets are on-sale now and available at the Colon Cancer Alliance website, www.ccalliance.org, and the Loveless Barn box office the day of the show. General admission is $35. Exclusive blue ribbon tables are also available for $500 and include front row tables (four seats per table).
Proceeds will benefit both the Colon Cancer Alliance and newly established Blue Note Fund. The funds raised by the Colon Cancer Alliance help support the services the CCA provides to colon cancer survivors; its public education and awareness campaigns and colon cancer related advocacy nationwide. Founded by Charlie Kelley, the Blue Note Fund gives small monetary gifts to colon cancer patients in need furthering Kelley's vision to provide hope during a turbulent time.
