Atlanta Undy 5000

Atlanta Undy 5000 Shows Great Success in its First Year
The inaugural Atlanta Undy 5000 took place on Saturday, November 13. This event attracted more than 350 adults and children to Historic Downtown Decatur for the 5K and 1 mile run/walk. Twenty of the participants were colon cancer survivors – an inspiring attendance number. Participants helped increase awareness about colon cancer, the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
Atlanta residents helped the CCA raise nearly $65,000 to help support and build national and local colon cancer patient support and innovative public awareness programs. The Atlanta Undy was one of the strongest first year events of the Undy 5000 series to date.
Local sponsors of the event included General Mills, Dole and Coyote Logistics. National sponsors of this event included Amgen Oncology, ASCRS (American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons), Bristol Myers Squibb, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Genentech, MITA (Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance) and Salix Pharmaceuticals.
