2011 Cincinnati Undy 5000

On a perfect Saturday afternoon, nearly 400 people in their underwear participated in the 2nd Annual Cincinnati Undy 5000 5K Run/Walk to fight colon cancer, helping raise nearly $75,000 for the Colon Cancer Alliance and local colon cancer screening programs. This total is double last year’s fundraising efforts.
Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a national sponsor of the Undy 5000 series, came out as a team of superheroes, spelling out “SEDATION” with their costumes, and was awarded the Top Fundraising Team honor, raising more than $2,600. As of raceday, seven teams raised more than $1,000, which is a record for the Cincinnati Undy.
“The weather was perfect, and so was this crowd,” said Todd Setter, National Undy 5000 Event Director. “We honored 18 amazing survivors who were very inspirational, and everyone was so supportive!”
Event proceeds are used to support the Colon Cancer Alliance’s (CCA) national and local patient support and public awareness programs. The Undy 5000 series, created by the CCA in 2008, is held in cities across the nation, and is designed to promote awareness and educate the public about colon cancer. Part of the proceeds will be left behind to the Wellness Community of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky to help fund colon cancer screening programs.
Boehringer Ingelheim, the maker of Dulcolax®,* is the proud presenting sponsor of the 2011 Undy 5000 races. As the #1 doctor-recommended stimulant for constipation relief, Dulcolax®* reminds everyone over the age of 50 or with a family history of colon cancer that a colonoscopy can save lives.
