2011 Jersey Shore Undy 5000

2011 Jersey Shore Undy 5000 Heats Up With Record Participation and Fundraising
On Saturday, July 23, 2011, the 2nd Annual Jersey Shore Undy 5000 was held near Pier Village in Long Branch, NJ, raising more than $80,000 to fight colon cancer! Despite 100+ degree weather, 662 participants showed up in their underwear and costumes to increase awareness about the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Councilwoman Joy Bastelli came out in her blue dress to start the opening ceremony, as well as to begin the race on the boardwalk.
Thanks to the generous sponsors, participants and donors, the 2011 Jersey Shore Undy more than doubled the amount raised in 2010, and was close to doubling participation numbers. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the CCA’s local partner, Riverview Medical Center Foundation.
The maker of Dulcolax®*is the proud presenting sponsor of the 2011 Undy 5000 races. As the #1 doctor-recommended stimulant for constipation relief, Dulcolax ® reminds everyone over the age of 50 or with a family history of colon cancer, that a colonoscopy can save lives.
Additional national sponsors include the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Amgen, Genentech, Ethicon Endo-Surgery and Salix Pharmaceuticals. Local Sponsors included Monmouth Medical Center, AtlantiCare and Clif Bar.
