2011 South Florida Undy 5000

South Florida Proves to be Great Start to 2011 Undy 5000 Series
On Saturday, January 21, 2011 the Colon Cancer Alliance hosted its first 2011 Undy 5000 in Lake Worth, Florida. Over 325 people came out to run in their undies and help raise awareness about colon cancer, the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. An additional 75 dedicated volunteers came out on race-day and helped make the event such a success.
Floridians helped the CCA raise close to $55,000 to help support and build national and local colon cancer patient support and innovative public awareness programs. A portion of funds raised were also dispersed to CCA’s local screening partner, Digestive CARE to help support local screening and treatment efforts.
Regional sponsors of the 2011 South Florida Undy 5000 included Cleveland Clinic Florida, Borland-Groover Clinic, AXCAN Pharma, Stop Colon Cancer Now, United Healthcare, Palm Beach Cancer Institute, Baptist Medical Plazas, BAAI Insurance, Palm Beach Roadrunners, Broward Health, FOX Spine & Sports Medicine, Korte & Wortman, P.A. and Apogee Home Health. National sponsors included Dulcolax, Genentech, ASCRS (American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons), MITA (Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance) and Salix Pharmaceuticals.
