2011 St. Louis Undy 5000

2011 St. Louis Undy 5000 Raises Almost $108,000!
On Saturday, March 26, almost 1,400 people came out to Forest Park for the third annual St. Louis Undy 5000, hosted by the Colon Cancer Alliance. Despite sub-freezing temperatures and forecasts of afternoon snow, participants ran in their underwear (and long johns) to help raise awareness about colon cancer, the second-leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Breaking the previous team participation record set just one week earlier in San Diego, Team Ervin had 105 team members attend on Saturday, making it the largest team in Undy 5000 history.
Compared to 2010, this year’s event brought 200 more people, and raised $18,000 more. More than $107,800 was raised to help fund national and local colon cancer patient support and innovative public awareness programs.
Regional sponsors of the 2011 St. Louis Undy 5000 included Siteman Cancer Center, Barnes Jewish Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. National sponsors included Dulcolax, ASCRS (American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons), Genentech BioOncology, Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc, and Amgen Oncology.
