2013 Volunteer Projects

The Dress in Blue Day Program
Help raise awareness and funds to fight colon cancer on Friday, March 1, 2013. You can help by recruiting workplaces and schools to participate in Dress in Blue Day or by organizing a fundraiser. See www.DressInBlueDay.com for more ideas.
Program kick-off date: through March 2013
Primary Care Provider Outreach
Primary care professionals are often key gatekeepers to increasing colon cancer screening rates. 80% of people relay that they would get screened for colon cancer if their doctor recommended it. The Colon Cancer Alliance would like to increase the number of professionals who recommend screening and whose advice follows the U.S. Preventive Task Force/ACS guidelines for screening. Volunteers who are interested in this outreach effort will receive a kit that contains colon cancer information, articles relaying the influence of primary cares on screening rates and a copy of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable’s booklet on how to increase screening rates in your practice.
Program kick-off date: Fall 2011
